A persuasive argument for eating breakfast

Eat your breakfast otherwise you will be like a car without fuel .

Do you think you will get through the day without breakfast?

I think we should eat breakfast because it is the first meal of the day and after a good night of sleeping you need a good breakfast .You will fall asleep in the day if you don’t eat breakfast

Eat breakfast to stay awake and keep your heart HEALTHY!

The answer is THE HEART - What is the question?

Working with a critical friend to think of a question

Dear Noah

Dear Noah,
I hope you get lots of exercise every day and that means about an hour or 30 minutes of biking and running.
When you eat Noah, you've got to make good choices. Don't eat sugar and fat because when you eat healthy food it makes me strong.
Don't forget that you need lots of sleep to let me rest. Also, when you are an adult, make good choices about smoking and alcohol because I can't manage to keep you healthy if you do those things.
Love from
The Heart

Dear Kaed (from your heart)

Dear Kaed,
I want to tell you more about your body. When you eat too many sweets you make me very sad and sick. When you eat fatty foods, some of that fat even gets stuck in my arteries and it really hurts.
When you eat vegetables and fruit and a bit of meat I feel happy and healthy.
Love from
Your heart.

A memory about the island

The island was usual enough; it had
Cabins, rocks and rock pools, an
Horizon and hills. Ethan and I
Did what kids do - jumped over holes,
Relaxed in the warm sun, annoyed
Dad by going 'Ha ha,' shot bows and
Chased seagulls,
Doing nothing important.

The beach was usual enough; it had
Sand, sea, ricks, a river and little waves.
Ella, my mum and me did what girls do -
Climbed the cliff, swam in the cold water,
Built sand castles, had a picnic and
Made a house with the sticks,
Doing nothing important.
The city was usual enough; it had
People, houses, hotels, restaurants,
malls, cinemas and busy roads. My sister
And I did what kids do - swam in the
Cold pool, played in the park and had
Veggies for dinner,
doing nothing important.

The kindergarten was Usual Enough - a memory by Molly

The kindergarten was usual enough; it had
A big playground, a lovely garden, a shady
Sand pit and heaps of dress ups. Isaac, Isabella,
Lucy and all my other friends dis what
Friends do - had lunch and morning tea
Whenever we wanted to, swing, sit in a bushy spot,
Make box robots and make new friends -
Doing nothing important

Holiday memory

The beach was usual enough; it had
sand, sticks, mud balls, sea and waves.
Me, mum and dad did what families
do - played make the biggest sand castle, do
jump jam and fly kites, and play can you fly.
Doing what families do.

Heart dissection photos

Breeze. The Library was usual enough

The library was usual enough: it had

Shelves full of books, tables for reading on.

A librarian who knows where everything is,

Pillows to sit on and colourful bins filled with

Picture books. Room 6 did what kids do – read

Be themselves, shared books on the sofa, issued

Books, browsed and search for information

Doing nothing important.

The Beach

The beach was usual enough; it had
sand, water, rocks, a far away horizon and sea gulls.
my faily and cousins did what families do-
played together, swam in the river, splashed each
other and made sand pools
doing nothing important.

The Bach by Mitchell

The bach was usual enough; it had 2 bunk beds, 1 fish bowl with ten fish in it and 2 more normal beds for mum and dad to sleep in. Mum, Dad, Ethan and I did what families do in Mokau - played in the ocean, cracked crabs open, stared at the fish and stayed up late just to watch the little blue penguins get out of the water to eat little crabs. Doing nothing important.

Holiday memory poems

We have found a different way to write about memories of our holidays. James K Baxter was a famous New Zealand writer. He wrote this poem a long time ago and we have borrowed his structure and language patterns. We have used nouns and strong verbs to create an image of our experience for the reader. The town was usual enough; it had A creek, a bridge, a beach, a sky Over it, and even a small tin church I never went to. My brother, my cousins and I Did what boys do – dozed in the hot Schoolroom, made bows and arrows, dodged the mad Boatbuilder, crept like rabbits through the black Under- runners with a weak torch, Burnt dry rushes, wrestled or swam Doing nothing important. Here we are at the end of last year, all enthusiastic and raring to go in Room 6 2012. Woops, someone is missing! Who is it?
We'll ask our photographer of the week to take a new shot when everyone is here.
